Restaurants as an industry have a large impact on the economy. Nine in 10 consumers say they enjoy going to restaurants, so this could very well be the reason that according to the National Restaurant Association, restaurants are predicted to top $683.4 billion in sales a significant increase from only a few years ago.

Restaurant sales equal 4 percent of the U.S. gross domestic product, with growth projected to outpace the overall economy for the 15th consecutive year in 2014. Traditional free standing restaurants top sales at $455.9 billion dollars and Bars and Taverns at $20 billion dollars. Seven in 10 eating-and-drinking places are single-unit operations with less than 50 employees.
